Hi
Both my rear door locks are stuffed and I was reading on rr.net about people who had used 3rd party actuators.
I was wondering whether something like this may do the job?
HOT Universal 12V Heavy Duty Power Door Lock Actuator Motor 2 Wire With Hardware | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HOT-Universal-12V-Heavy-Duty-Power-Door-Lock-Actuator-Motor-2-Wire-With-Hardware-/141098640176)
A lot cheaper than around $200.00 each for replacements from LR

Haven't done the p38 yet but my old classic and both the discos have had exactly those to replace the originals, I got a set when they were on offer in Repco when they were on offer, worked a treat.

Steve,
I cant believe the horrid luck you have had mate. Ive been reading post after post afetr post after post etc etc etc. Your p38 caught fire. You then bought ( I think Shirls? ) P38 and so far, it seems to not just be a lemon, but the whole Tree!
I reckon you could put a P38 back together from start.
I tips me hat to ya mate, purely for hanging in there.
Cheers

Being "universal" I guess they could be adapted for front door use?

I think you then need to replace the entire locking system but I have heard about it being done.
The rear door locks are controlled directly by the BECM but the fronts have all the microswitches and door outstation voodoo going on
