Today marks the day Im due for long service leave:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
1 year as a casual originally employed to keep a stop/go bat company and now 10 years full time. These days Im Leading Hand/Construction Grader operator, and when the boss isnt working Acting Works Supervisor.
Not bad seeing when I was 8 years into being a Sod Busters Slave I had a back injury and was told I wouldnt be operating any machinery ever again.Still have a stuffed back which causes me intense grief more often than I would like.
Made a career of this and loving it.
However,1 powerball;);););););)

At the moment my plan is to defer the LSL for the next 18 months/2 years.Need to refill the bank AC after buying the D4 and get it and the camper trailer ready.
Will be 50 then, hoping to to a road trip east and south of eastern states;);););););)

There is nothing like preparing for, packing up and heading of on an adventure with a Landy and a rod and reel - on LSL
LSL is meant to be used so don't wait too long to use it. The last three Edjit adventures have been on LSL - love it.
It is a reward for being a faithful employee - use it and enjoy it

I can only wish. My employer (which I won't name) routinely declines LSL applications as there is no other staff available to replace staff on leave. Annual leave is hard enough, most often the workload is picked up by other staff. LSL, too? Forget it! It is traditional for senior employees to retire a year or two early by clearing out their accrued leave at the end of their career.
I have 7 months accrued, and 18 months Sick Leave. So hard to reduce either balance.

It could be a problem for my employer,Im the only one on the crew that can do the work I do.
I also have 47 days annual leave in the bank ;)

Good work. In 9 days it will be my 11th year anniversary so just 4 more years to my next lot of LSL. Only taken a week of my current LSL. Got 4 months of sick leave too that I'm not likely to take:mad:

I've been on LSL at half pay since the end of June and will be until July next year when I officially retire. That's what 27 years in the one job gets you. :D Love it.
I also have 4500 hours of sick leave in the bank, but that's where it will remain ....... unfortunately.

Good work on saving up so much sick leave but a damn shame they dont pay it out!! Fortunately we get ours paid out when we want you can cash some in as long as you leave a years worth there which is pretty handy!!

I currently am sitting on 1000+ hours of annual leave and a full LSL load...
Currently I'm lucky if I can get 2 days off...
Not likely to change in the next 18 months...

With the exception of Numpy, get some time up, you guys... ;)
Bloody newby's... :D
April 2015, 26th to be exact, will be my 25th anniversary. :p
And I am still in mid-range 40's.
The really scary thing is, I had the same boss for the vast majority of that time, until he retired in May of this year.
Annual leave - about 10 weeks owing
Sick leave - about 6 months
So now, it is just a case of hurry up & wait to see what happens next...

I was very lucky when Deb got sick.I was allowed to use my sick leave when I had time off to care for her.Early march until after easter.Ireally appreciated that as I something like 87 days owing at the time.

I could be corrected but the old " sick leave" now covers a lot of carers and compassionate leave.
I was going to take leave to drop and pick up my wife when she has her wisdom teeth out. HR said get a chit from the hospital and take it as sick leave.

It does Cliffy,I know Deb took carers leave to look after her mum a couple of years ago.She could only use a portion of her sick leave for that purpose(Education Dpt).
I was allowed to use what ever I needed to use,and still are.2 days next week for Deb to have an eye operation.

It's a constant temptation not to take a couple of months off to go bush!
