yeah, we liked when they were first held up against the door but not sure! another reason to belong to a forum is to get a wider opinion?.

No, a Perentie should be bling free, it makes a statement in its own right.

I like it but not on the door, maybe somewhere more subtle, eg under the bonnet so when you lift the lid it's right there

We did think of putting them on the inside of the bat wing doors with a led light behind them that would come on when the door was opened.

Try and get the piece he cut it from, Get that spray can and hit it in the opposite camo colour or just black, Would look sweet, Get that one then get "The Australian Army" painting in opposite colours....
Just a thought. Would be less "Blingy"
Cheers

Bling, on a perentie? Sell the perentie, hand in your man card and if you must continue to associate with the landrover marque go and buy a more appropriate varient like the freelander one.
Two door,
Petrol,
pink.
With an auto.
The only acceptable "bling" on a perentie must be attached to a small metal plate and insterted into the tac plate holder or badly rattle can sprayed onto the door in black with cheap line marking spray paint using stencils.

Hi Dave the metal decal in question was just an idea it wasn't meant to offend anyone. There are quiet a number of perenties being sold and not all will be kept stock standard. I have been a member for nearly 6 years and have followed your posts with great interest and have respect for what you have to say?.But l will be keeping my 6x6.

Still reckon I need a sarcasm font.
Those brass cutouts have been done before,.
failed miserably down at altc for some reason the magnetic backing wouldn't stick to the doors.
Let to rarninsh and get a bit weathered they'd probably.look ok, I couldn't tell for some reason the larger images won't load on the phone.

At first I wasn't sure this copy of the rising sun was a bit of a spoof or just poorly drawn, maybe just the angle of the photo or my mind?. I see this 'demonic' face where the crown is and wondered if it was some angry 'royal' miffed at the army for not continuing with LRover?
Maybe the text should read 'Was Australian Army'.
What is the Army's view on its crest being used in civi circumstances?

Yes, very good point! the legality of using the emblem was not considered, perhaps there is someone on the forum that could advise?Gaz

Thanks Dave, good advice certainly worth weathering one to see how it looks, but there maybe issue's re the legality of using the emblem, certainly don't want to go down that track!?.Gaz.

I would hang it on the wall of your workshop/garage.

I think you might run into some issues driving a still-in-use and cam vehicle with "Australian Army" on the side. Drive within 50 klicks of a base and you might disappear for a week and not be allowed to tell anyone where you have been ;)
Seriously, the man cave sounds like the go. :)

On a sort of related topic, I just tried to register my 1990 ex-Air Force Perentie with the plates RAAF90 and it was knocked back due to its similarity with current defence force details.

I was talking to a guy that wanted to get his ARN as his rego on a green and white plate. I told him I didn't think they would allow that but wasn't sure.
I haven't seen him since so don't know how he went.
Do you think this would be allowed?

My old Series 3 was ARN 30-209. I was able to register it as A30-209 with green on white platres with no problems here in SA

Hi, go to the Vicroads website and go to the custom plates section, you can type in combinations and see if they are allowed or availabel, if so you can buy them immediately on line - then you would simply need to allocate them to a VIN number at a Vicroads office
