What are people's thoughts on the 6 speed manual trans? Does the terrain response still work on it? The car I'm looking at has airbag suspension and is a manual 2005-2006 D3

I believe it does still work to a degree by changing throttle response and suspension settings etc.

But the whole system with the automatic is pretty impressive and wold be my choice if you can find a good one in your price range.

Auto all the way!!!

I have replaced one in the past, certainly undersized for the task IMO.

The manual D3s in Australia are extremely rare.
Have only read bad things about them on UK websites where they are more common.
One to avoid.
I have always had manual vehicles, love the auto in my D4.

Ok by the sounds of it I should give it a miss.... Can you put a heavier duty clutch in To fix the problem?

Always been a manual driver myself.
If you are a manual fan too drive an auto D3.
Our Territory Turbo has the same 6 speed auto as a D3,loverly gearbox.
The 8 speed auto in my D4 is better still.
Have a try,you will be surprised;);););););););)

Hi Will,
I, on occasion prefer to drive a manual, however the D3 auto for me is a good alternative, plus all the fruit gets to work to its true potential. Buying things so rare presents a whole raft of its own problems. I'm not sure if the D3 manual box is smaller and lighter than the D3 auto box but I wouldn't want to be taking that out on a regular basis. I'm sure the is a heavy duty clutch, however I'm not sure how much travelling you are planning to do but if you are think of the fix in anything but the metro area.

I suspect that in maybe 20 to 30 years the rarity value will kick in to a point.......... personally I would invest in an auto, and have done.
