I think I need to replace the drivers side manifold on my 1998 4.6 P38. I don't seem to be able to find any headers ? Do you know of any headers that will replace the standard manifolds?
All help appreciated

Hedman (spelling) do one I'm told. I'd just get a replacement from a breaker. The OEM manifold isn't that bad and the hassle and expense isn't worth the trouble. That's the general consensus.

Thanks for the info.
There seems to be a shortage of Right Hand manifolds, does anyone know why ?
Is the Right Hand manifold more prone to problems ?

They crack at the flex joint.
Has anyone got an old leaking Rh Manifold ?
I may be able to get it fixed.

Can they not be repaired using a TIG welder? (just asking!) Is it the cast iron or the flexi joint itself has cracked?

They are all stainless tube and mostly can be repaired by a competent welder I believe

They're not cast iron, they're fabricated. The flex joint itself cracks.

I believe they're stainless steel but I can't confirm that.

Yes, they are stainless. And yes as others have said it is the flex joint that cracks. I got a replacement from Lynn Rover in WA.

I still have the old one here in my parts grave in Brisbane, but I was told it cant be repaired.

They're just bent mild tube. Mine were cracked at the welds, so had them repaired with a mig (he was a very experienced welder though).

Mate,

Perhaps some of the early ones were mild steel but most of them are stainless. Mild steel would rust out after 18 or so years

There was a Service Action on the manifolds IIRC.

A magnet was used to check if they were mild steel & if they were, they were replaced.
