Ean,
That was a metric **** load of Nannis in one shot coming over the net boat.
What are your thoughts on taking whole schools of fish from what would be congregation grounds?
I have seen plenty of prawn caught up in a net but to see what would be tonnes of nannigai or flathead dragged in a single shot... just blew me away
Perhaps it really is an amazing bio-system that has huge reserves.
I would love to know where the fish you guys trawl end up...
For some reason it ducks me that 99.99999% of the absolutely prime coral trout caught off the coast of FNQ will never pass the lips of an Australian resident... instead Woolies and Coles imports Basa and Nile Perch...

The area that fish trawler operates is from 100 miles west of Cape York to the WA/NT boarder and out to the edge of the Australian fishing zone, there are 2 boats that operate and have done for 20 plus years under a quota and have to supply every trip ( 14 days ) up to 40kg of fish for age sampling. I think the stock is pretty consistant and like all Australian fisheries ,pretty well managed.
The other one that is catch the flathead and other stuff is operating in Bass strait.
All that fish is sold in Australia, non of it is exported.
The part where you see the prawns jumping out the water , believe me that is rare, I only seen it 3 times in the 28 yrs I was prawn fishing.

Thanks Ean.
If you can do fish fillets I think you could sell double the prawn order;););););););)
Since those fish shows Matt Evans did I have banned crap seafood.
Willing to pay top dollar.
You dont know how hard it is to find aussie seafood.
