I've just received my NSW boat licence renewal notice. $114.02 for 12 months or $304.01 for 3 years and this is for just the basic (non PWC) licence. Last time I renewed it was about $180 (from memory) for a three year licence. Out of interest, how much are you paying in the other states ?

Mine's due (non-PWC) next year, but i see that as of December 1st 2014, it'll be printed on your driver licence when that get's renewed.

I don't think it was that much though ($304??)

We in Victoria get a lot for our money from Boat licences.
We have best free launching facilities NOT!

We have adequate launching ramps NOT!

We have lots of water police policing the hoons and richards and making it safe for all NOT!

Yes our licence fees are well spent NOT!.
It's just the same as it was before when we didn't have licences.

We've basically got what we had before, but now we have the privilige of paying for it.

Hi Stuck

Just paid mine in SA, was next to computer!
$113 for a year
boat only not trailer ($75 for tandem for 12months - also in stack)
5.9M and 150HP motor - not sure if that increases cost ???
cheers Nobby

Sorry just read my own post !... thought it was asking about boat rego

no license fee in SA once you have it and pay …it endures

don't tell the SA treasurer! as we are basically broke!!

In Queensland it's linked with our drivers licence, and as long as you keep renewing drivers licence your boat licence is active, it's not a separate fee here.
I renew my drivers every 5 years and cannot remember the fee at the moment.

I renewed my NSW General boat licence in October for $57 a year. (152 for 3 years and 238 for five years).

Tom.

N.B. I just realised that this is half of what you (Stuck) are being charged. Might be a computer error - worth a phone call to check?

Vic it has the same number as your driver's licence. But We have to pay separately for each
I believe if you are caught .05 on the water, you kiss your driver's licence good bye also. So although it's all linked they charge for 2 licences

At least in Vic we don't get crucified for having PWC endorsement. I had a NSW license for years as we ski on the Murray and Vic never had a license.

I was happy to leave it NSW until I needed to get PWC. I then changed it to Vic for that reason. It is $33 per year plus $5 for PWC

I just had a look at NSW website. $57 for boat or $172 with PWC.

Fees - Licence - Maritime - Roads and Maritime Services (http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/licence/fees.html)

The cost of running a car and boat in NSW is the one thing that would stop me living there.

My Son LRDan has duel address. Albury and Tatura. He owns cars registered in both states.

He recently purchased a P38 in NSW so kept it registered there. He told me last week that when it is next due it is going to go to Vic reg because of the cost.

Another rego advantage in Vic. A 6x4 trailer does not need rego, just put the cars number on it.

We also don't have to pay an annual fee for personalized plates. $99 per year in NSW.

I hope you are aware that the Murray is in NSW? The border is on the southern bank. I don't know what the rules are for interstate operators in NSW.

Yes I am which is why I had a NSW licence. In my post number 8 I have a typo which I have now rectified.

In the top line I said "I had a NSW for years. It should have said and now does "I had a NSW license for years"

The rules back before Vic ever had a boat license was in NSW you had to hold a license. As Vic never had one the obvious thing was to get a NSW one. Now days it is like a car, your interstate is recognized.

It only applies to fishing licences, fish in the Murray in Vic and you need as NSW fishing licence.

Haven't renewed it since - because it doesn't expire
