I just had the D4 in for its first annual service on Tuesday, and on my way home tonight the warning light came on at the traffic lights, Restricted Performance. Luckily I was only a couple of Kms from home and it was normal peak hour traffic. I managed to limp home.

Having the thought of not been able to drive the D4 in the weekend I tried turning it on and off to see if it would reset itself, to no avail. So I call Land Rover Assist. They advised that there was nothing their Mechanics could do so they would arrange for the D4 to be towed on Monday morning to the nearest dealer.

Having searched the net I read that I should try switching it off and locking the doors. Success the warning light went off and I was able to drive it like normal again.

Was this a coincidence that I only had it serviced and this happened? Can I expect it to happened again? I will be calling Alto on Monday.

Alto had a look today and said it could be the turbo actuator but we're not prepared to change it after one occurrence and suggested I continue on. Well on the road home tonight the car went into limp home mode again whilst I was approaching the Harbour Bridge. Lucky it reset. It looks as I am in for another trip to Alto tomorrow

There's a few different causes for the message, from simple things such as a vacuum hose disconnected, grit-clogged external lever on the 3.0's secondary isolation valve to a failed primary turbo actuator on either engine. Hopefully the people will have a proper look this time.

Thanks Graeme they think it maybe the turbo solenoid. They have asked to keep it overnight, to see if they can replicate the fault.

Thank goodness I got my D4 back last night. Alto confirmed it was the Turbo actuators
