Hi, i'm strongly considering one of these beasts for myself, I see that someone in Christchurch is selling a couple of 6x6 and a 110 on Trademe over here, has anyone else privately imported a 110 into NZ, and if so, could you tell me the isuses you had in getting it road legal?,and are you allowed to tow more that the 1200kgs that they can in OZ?

Thanks, Jack

Mine is registered as a 110 so I guess it has the tow capacity of a 110?!

Compliance has been hit and miss, I didn't comply mine, someone else did. But from what they said they just had to get some rust in the drivers foot well fixed and maybe some other bits.

Talk to Paultan on here, I remember he had some issues with compliance.

They guy I bought mine off brought another one over privately, not sure if he sold it but could ask him for you. Price from memory is around 14k for a FFR.

Let me know if you want me to ask him any questions or I could put you in touch with him.

Close, it's a Personnel Carryall! :D

Paultan has the Survey, don't know where the three soft tops went in the Feb auctions.

Hi Jacknz

I bought a hard top FFR (fitted for radio) from graysonline. It was a nightmare getting in registered. I posted some posts while I was going through it. The vehicle was vinned which helped, but the inspector couldn't get his head around the fact it wasn't registered on the civilian system. He also was adamant that he need an original bill of sale! Lucky for me I managed to get a email from the Australian Army confirming the sale.

In short the guys at North Shore basically said it would get registered, but because it wasn't a 'normal' application it would take time. They were right. Took just over 3 months to get it sorted. I reckon you need to ask around for a good compliance Centre, and then hope you don't get an anal inspector. PM me if you want anymore info

Paul

This one looks in very good condition.

Land Rover Defender Perentie 110 1989 | Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/land-rover/auction-817902734.htm)

I don't think you could get one here for much cheaper in that condition.

Also I wouldn't bother with a 6x6, not as practical as it would be in Aussie. This one has been on TradeMe for a long time, started at 45K I think.

Sorry Paultan but it looks like you don't have the only Survey in country :(

Hi again, I have spoken to the seller of the 110 on Trademe, it is possibly sold he said. Never mind, I am still doing a bit of soul searching on it, I love the idea of one, but it will be my daily driver, and I'm in my mid fifties, and am wondering if I could live with it, I understand that they are pretty noisy and a bit on the slow side, still many years of S3 ownership prepared me for that.
My Colorado is just so bloody boring!
Cheers,Jack

All of those draw backs you mention can easily be remedied. Plus they are so bloody fun to drive!

They are not at all slow with a turbo. It cuts down some of the noise as well.
