I have a sals diff in my series 3, did an oil change now the diff bung leaks. Before I pull it out can someone shed some light on what the probable cause is?
1. do they have a brass/copper washer in the bottom of the hole to seal?
2. should there be some sort of thread tape stuff on the bung?
3. ???

Copper washer I think when I striped one ps have a look at the bung is it threaded all the way up or has it got a small shoulder

this dose not have the drain in the diagram but the filler nut has a washer so try a washer and see hope this helps

My parts book doesn't have it either. I guess I'll have to drop the oil and see what I can see :(
O well....

I put some pipe thread sealant on mine when it wept. No trouble since. the stuff goes off in the absence of air, but not super hard. Easy to undo and get the old stuff off.
I'll look for the name later if you want.
