Anyone got this combination or photos of it? Got an order in for a new MY15 with a couple of weeks left to change it. Originally wanted to go for all black but now considering the more traditional/practical keswick. I know it looks great with white roof and steel rims but not sure how it'd go with the black roof and surrounds

Exactly, except I'm getting the 110. Looks great though. Is that yours?

We love Keswick, a nice "traditional" Landrover colour.
It's all a matter of personal choice, but personally, I think the black roof makes it look too "heavy". I'd be going for a white roof.
We went one step further with our Keswick 90. We have an Indus Silver roof, which we think looks really nice. It picks up the Dual finish alloys, silver chequre plate etc very well.

Keswick green, white roof and Sawtooth rims. The rims and rubber has been swapped for 35" so the rear tray no longer dominates the look. On a tub this package would look a treat.

Have you considered the Silver pack rather than the black pack, i think the lighter roof is a plus in our climate.

We had hers out in 43? and no "climatic heat issues" from the roof area..

Biggest heat source was from the cargo floor region and uncovered side panels.

I'd go the black pack. IMO it's the only roof colour that makes Keswick Green (which is a fantastic colour) look modern, as befits a 2015 Defender.

If I was buying a Defender right now it's the colour combo I'd be ordering.

I have considered the silver pack, but personally I'd much prefer either black or even body colored roof. At this stage still tossing up between black with black pack, or keswick green with black pack. Either way I'm going to be happy, but I've never had the chance to personally build up a car before so just trying to get it right the first time :p

Bit of useless information but for those interested...

We all know that Land Rovers are aluminium due to surplus aircraft skin aluminium, but its not that well known that the original paint schemes (which have been reincarnated in some of the latest colors) were also war surplus.

I give you below 2 pictures of Spitfire cockpits... :-)

Cheers,

Lou

Both 'facts' denied by Arthur Goddard who worked on the development of the original Land Rover.
The pale green he claimed came from the Rover car range and the aluminium wasn't an aircraft grade (I can't remember his exact comments).

Hi Colin,

Interesting, thanks! Might do a bit of research on that :D

Cheers,

Lou

Edit:

Land Rover's Official History list the grey green paint of the first vehicles as surplus cockpit paint... Something I'll have to refer to the official rivet counters in the UK! :-)

I think you'll find it was the shortage of steel rather than surplus aluminium was the original reason.;)

For what it is worth I agonised over my colour choice. I wanted black but wavered as I was worried about the heat etc. decision not helped by the fact the Defender looks good in a number of colours.

Anyway, at the penultimate moment I went back to my original choice of santorini black and I am so happy. Had some hot days in Perth already and no issue.

And I have to say, it looks better clean but it still looks awesome covered in dust and dirt!

I never wanted anything other than Keswick green.

Here's my DIY version of black pack.

I've just taken delivery of 110 in Keswick with white roof and Boost alloys. Love the colour. I usually stick with white Landy's and like to keep it simple but this one came up and I bought it unseen. Very happy.

Fair enough, but that photo was taken on a 40C day in brilliant sunshine, so the silver may be more "prominent" (sunlight reflecting off "metallic" silver) than it is, in the flesh. It's like keswick I suppose, a colour which can come up in all sorts of different ways in a photo, depending upon the light.
We think it looks lovely, & if we had our time over, we'd certainly option it again.

Damn that does look nice. It does some weird things in the light that green. Looks completely different in some photos.

Still deciding on all black, or the green with the black. Much more practical the keswick I would imagine, and even though it'd have the black roof, should still say cooler in the sun than the black on black. Decisions decisions...

Here is my black 110 on a hot day last weekend. Kids and wife were comfortable in there waiting while I did some fencing with Dad. Bit dusty but still looking great

Nice looking Defender!

I hope you're not saying you left it idling for an extended time period :(

That doesn't do good things for the engine :(

Wasn't too long. Probably 10 minutes. Is that too long? Engine temp remained perfect

Just don't be making a habit of it :)

It glazes bores, sticks rings and is generally detrimental to engine longevity.

I won't tell that I left my Tdi idling for 9 hours then. Pat

Stuck at night? Or forgot to turn it off?

Still doesn't make it a good idea Pat :)

You wouldn't believe it but I was called into work in a hurry, for some reason I jumped out and jumped straight into a vehicle that was waiting for me and forgot to turn the Tdi off,it was that simple. For nine hours it sat idling in the car park,a heap of people walked past it but thought I was charging the battery or something,it was in the middle of a Newman summer and when I got back to it the whole front end was hot,she blew a bit of black/blue smoke for a few K's but the tough old bitch has suffered nothing from it,still drives perfect today.I don't recommend idling engines but people carry on like the engine will be destroyed if idled for a few mins even, kind of like 5K oil changes will make them last longer. I know this is an old thread, but I stumbled across it and in the interests of a completeness for future searchers, here's a nice looking 110 I saw that was awaiting delivery at a dealer in Melbourne a few weeks back.

Agreed mate, with the caveat being as long as it is up to temperature!

Stopping and then starting a cold diesel is not good at all... far better on a 'short trip' to choose the 'let it idle' option so it at least gets up to working temperature.

Well, that is my understanding anyway. ;)

Tombie mate,

Can you please post some more photos of your lovely Keswick Green with Black Pack!

It really does look very very nice!

Yep. Agreed. That looks brilliant.

Keswick green is the one colour that makes me doubt my choice every time I see one.

I love my car in Fuji white, and I still think it's the most practical, but the green just looks 'right'.

I wanted Keswick Green , but it was not available . It had to be ordered , I was offered metallic red , But because I have two already said no . Plus my wife has a red ford focus . At first I wasn't sure if I liked it . I can say Keswick Green has grown on me . I'm pleased with the colour . My only worry is , it doesn't stand out on roads in the bush that have trees . My son who I was following , said dad without the white roof your car is hard to see . So now in the bush I drive with lights on !!..Jim :)

It is "right",.........for a Defender,.....needs a contrasting roof though, Fuji white, limestone, or as in Gracie's case, the very best,.....Indus.

I think that is going to Southern as one of their remaining 4 unsold 90's as of 2 weeks ago. It was one of the ones my daughter had the chance to buy but she wanted the Demo one they had.
