Having read that the ARB Roof Top Tents are identical to cheaper less well know brands (same factory apparently), I'm wondering if the same goes for the cheap foxwing awning available on ebay.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Are they any good?

Are they the same as the ones ARB sell?

I like the 270 degree (or whatever it is) coverage of the Foxwing and for the price asked the kit is probably well made and durable. I have checked out side awning alternatives and found most have thinner 'canvas'. The fittings seem fairly decent all round but the awning material is the cost saver. I would buy the cheaper alternative and when the material goes, just repair with your own tarp on the supplied hardware.

I have 'compromised' and bought a kalahari side and rear awning for $140 and $90 respectively off eBay, used on one big trip only apparently. Saving 50% and getting good gear is always a smile maker for me. I would be happy buying a cheapie and being careful with it simply because the cost of the Foxwing and all that branded stuff is more than I wish to invest. I know the quality remains long after the price is forgotten but...

I have a couple cheap Chinese foxwing ripoffs. Yes they do a good job for the amount of use I give them though the hinge mechanism is flimsy. One was already broken on arrival but felt you get what you pay for. Am always careful on opening and closing. Will look at remaking a new hinge one day to replace it. Have looked at the real foxwings and they are 10x better. Also look at the Supawing(?) made in Brisbane. They are better again.
