20th December 2014??.....20th December 2015??....One year??
So what?
Well tomorrow, 20th December 2014 will mean that in one year's time, 20th December 2015, production of the Defender, as we know it, will stop,....for ever.....the countdown begins.
Mods may want to move this, but I thought it was important enough to have its own thread.

Is there any fresh news on the replacement. I googled the other day but it still the same old info.

I've got a few friends working at JLR in Coventry and they all say that Project Icon has been dubbed the best kept secret in motoring history.

A lot rides on it for JLR and they've spent a truck load of money on disinformation and steering prying eyes away from development.

They are pretty particular about the other 4WD producers not getting any information as most of them currently feature JLR technology both cloned after release and actual industrial espionage. They are in fact in a number of ongoing court battles about Terrain Response and a number of other features appearing in the competition's vehicles that are close enough to patent breach to go to court about.

I'm as keen as the next Defender fanatic, but we might as well wait and see at this stage.

Cheers,

Lou

Cheers,

Thats intersting information. Makes you wonder if companies sit back and let other companies do all the developement and just steal it to put into their next lineup. I can understand why companies sit on technology for a long time and not let it into the vehicle lineup.

Quit being so dramatic. It is about time Land Rover woke up and ceased production of this horribly outdated vehicle.

Have they ever "finished" one? I thought that was left to us!

Well, this time next year, they won't be making any.
This fact does not appear to be affecting new or used pricing, at the moment.
