Thanks for the post.
A bit of Lalo Schifrin in the background there. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to take it...........

One of those would be handy as a daily driver. Would be good for sorting out road rage.:)

Saw 1/2 dozen of them parked in a paddock down Eagle Farm way a couple of months ago, maybe we may see a couple come up on Grays online in the next six months or so !
Cheers.

Not those ones, mate. They're English.
You'd have seen the Australian Landrovers. No V8s in that lot. Quite a lot of RFSVs have been auctioned off already. I wonder if what you saw were SRVs.

The Australian army have changed to Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons and will be getting rid of all land rover & unimogs.

The most probable vehicles seen at Meandah (eagle farm logistics depot) were ex-51FNQR RFSVs. I am still curious as to what condition the SRVs will be sold in. I expect that the whole ROPS incl gun ring will be removed or the ring and supporting extension will be hacked off. Blackout lights are one thing, an operational gunners ring is another. And no, it is very different to an iimv gun ring.
Thanks for the vid.

I've been told that absolutely no SASR 6x6 will be sold to the public. One is at the War Memorial on display already but not sure what will become of the rest. I'm not sure what will happen to to Commando versions.

I suspect you may be right, however, I was told that no Landrovers will be sold to the public. How wrong did that turn out to be.
Where did you hear no SASR 6x6 Landrovers will be sold to the public?
I wonder where they will be sold to.

Mick, I have been told from 3 different areas, including AMSO, that the LRPVs will not be released for sale. Potentially a limited number will go to museums.
It is a policy decision,I expect, to prevent them taking into the 'wrong' hands and tarnishing the rep of the operators.
The Cdo LRPVs ARE the SASR vehicles. The regiment kept a couple for their museum and training and the rest came east last year.

I had to pick up some vehicles (Mogs) from the Bulimba depot in Brisbane and spoke to a WO2 there. The yard at the time was staked full of One Tens and I asked why. He said they were off to auction. I asked about the SASR veriant (there where none there in the yard) and he said they were going to storage in Bandiana. Some were going to selected sites (no idea what) but he stressed that none were to be sold to the public.

Maybe to be kept on hold for future deployments. G-wagon is non deployable. The SAS need something to get around in.

Yeah, although the LRPV isn't the most suited vehicle for current theatres.
Bushmaster ftw

No it's not, but they still need a "fast" attack vehicle lol. But they also have the Jackal...

Did they ever end up using the Jackal? I thought they just kind of shrugged at them and pinched the bushies :D

Nope, they use them. All I'll say is I've driven a 'Nary'. Last I heard we have around 30 of them.

Non_deployable: not fit or intended for deployment.
Too hard and ungainly to up armour to a (now) suitable level of protection in the current and future battle space.
In the near future, when the Regiment need to go 'light' it will be Hawkei SOV or dismounted.

Seems a shame none would go to collectors, saying that Dunsfolds might get hold of one:D
I suppose the situation is similar to the UK SAS Land Rovers very few are in public hand's ( but at least some are ) So where did all the rest of the SAS V8 110 HCPU go?
Storage, the scrap man?

The talk on REMLR said the Bushmaster and the Nary were too heavy for many operations, so some LRPVs were being kept and some were moved to the east coast for Commando units.
