I just thought I would let you all know that my Disco 2 TD5 has just ticked over 300,000km. I purchased this car 11 years ago with 40,000km on the clock. Changed the oil and filters every 5,000km (myself) and completed all other mechanical work on this (by the way Im not a mechanic but moonlight as one, when Im not financial planning). I grew up on a farm and got my mechanical know how from fixing up my trusty DR 250. Anyway, I absolutely love this car and have no intention of leaving her. In this time I have replaced- one fuel pump, one MAF, an alternator, a radiator and two fuel pump regulators, on to my second set of tyres and she takes me weekly surfing down the tracks near Dunsborough and Margaret River. It is the best car I have ever owned (corolla and XF Panel Van being my others) and I am so happy with her. I just cant think of what could be a potential replacement in the next 10 years so I will keep on rolling. Thank you to all members on AULRO. I read this forum every day, although I don't contribute much, but this site has been a savior, a great source of knowledge and a vault of information. Merry Christmas! Shane

Congrads on the milestone, and especially the mechanical work!

Most of us here are financial planners, in that we have to plan where the finance is coming from to keep our D2's going!

We also make for pretty handy mechanics after a few years of ownership.

We shouldn't be happy until 500,000 km's. The fact we post that we are stoked because our D2 has a lot of km's on it, is a little bit disconcerting. There is no reason why that should be considered unusual. Ignore Japanese vehicle owners input. Bob

Gee Bob that can be a long time to wait for some, but hang in there in 118k you too can be happy! (-;

Congrats on the 300k milestone Shane. I have been very happy for all 475k done so far and even if I fall short of the 500k milestone, I have no regrets.
