Are the auto headlights as random as auto wipers can be?????
Last nite went to leave Xmas dinner, its was plenty dark enough,no headlights as we drove off.Turned to auto 100m down the road they went out, same again in the next 100m.Were streetlights on,but not lit up like daylight at all.Tried again at the next set of traffic lights, much lighter there, normality returned.
Have seen them come on when there are shadows over the road.
Where is the sensor so I can see if its dirty.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andy.

The sensor is in the patch of glass where the rear view mirror is attached. You can see two squares - auto lights and auto wipers. Doesn't sound right that the lights are behaving the way you describe. Mine can come on in daylight when I go through an underpass for example.

2nd that. Mine go on even in a relatively short underpass.

Never had the issue where they don't come on but have had the issue where I'll start the car in middle of the day and they are on for a few minutes for some reason no idea why.

Has the windscreen been replaced? Other threads suggest non LR screens can interfere with the correct function of Auto head lights, wipers etc.

Andy, definitely something not right.... My auto headlights work perfectly.

The wipers.... well that's another story

Both my auto lights and auto wipers work pretty well - certainly as well as any other car with those features. Maybe this is one of those latter day D4 "improvements" ... like the location of the cupholders ... aaaaaaaaaaarrrrggghhh ! :p

Is there something on your screen Andy ? Maybe a wipe down with some metho ? Or pull the surround off on the inside and make sure the sensor hasn't come loose from the windscreen (on my D3 the sensor for lights is integrated into the rain sensor not sure how D4 works) ?
