I wonder how many owners have had their compressor replaced after the C1A20 error code - because the compressor "was on the way out".

I have had two such faults, (at 150k km and 204k km) due to minor leaks in hoses near the compressor due to abrasion from vibration.

I have fixed both with an epoxy glue with a reinforcing sleeve over the top. While repairing the first leak I also installed other sleeves where other wear was likely in the future. The second leak was in the supply line from the compressor to the dryer. The line had come out of the clip on the dryer body and I didn't see it as it was on top of the dryer body.

Happy New Year All!

Is that the Hitachi or the AMK compressor you refer to?

I gave up after 2 Hitachis (original in my D3) and have not had any problems with the AMK.

Cost was biggest problem, though...

How did you detect where the leaks were? I don't fancy being under the car while someone raises and lowers the EAS. :(

I was able to raise the to off-road height and place jack stands under the chassis rail. The vehicle will hold the height as the leaks were in the supply system rather than the suspension system. I removed the after market compressor bash plate and OEM guard. On starting the vehicle the compressor would run until the error registered. During that time I could hear the air leak and after a couple of cycles of this I found the offending hose.
