Good day to you all.
My 2005, D3 is due a 168Km service in the new year. I have seen some threads discussing the service on the Forum but have been unable to find them. (may be searching the wrong way:confused:)
I seem to remember something about ensuring that the oil pump or oil pump casing is renewed at the same time as the timing belts are changed.
I am currently in the SW of Western Australia and went to the local LR Service agent to discuss this. Unfortunately they were not aware of any problems with the oil pump/casing following the service.
Is anyone aware of there being a Technical or Service Bulletin about this problem so that I can inform the service agent.
The service agent was very helpful and is happy to do any "extra" work that I would like done. Can you clarify for me if it is the whole oil pump or just the "casing" that is changed and what is the part number of the item. Also what sort of money can I expect to pay for the part.
Thanks for your help.

A quick search using the search in the bottom left corner reveals this link...

On the disco 3 website in the UK it has been posted that failers have occured on 2005 through to 2009 yrs not just 2007 yrs ,bear in mind these are in only small numbers and is usualy only after timing belt change out , why do components last for for 7 yrs and or 168k the fail after a belt change ,sometimes soon after and or up to 30Ks ?? .
I have contacted dealers and repaire shops in WA and over east who say they are not aware of this issui not sure why this is seeing that it is an issui on the net. . No real evidence of an actual reason for the failures have been forth-coming to date that i can find other than conjecture . Would be good to get this solved once and for all .

This may help too...

For a 2005 model D3, replacing the oil pump housing is a must when doing the timing belts. The oil pump is part of the housing and from memory was only in the region of $250. It involves extra work as the starter motor must be removed to pin the crank, as the crankshaft pulley is not keyed.
