Have a look at http://www.rangerovers.net/outfitting/cbra...cb4.html#other2 (http://www.rangerovers.net/outfitting/cbradios/cb4.html#other2) and see where I fitted it on mine. Right in front of the airvents - held on with black double sided tape. Not the white stuff which falls off when it gets hot. I bought the tape at SuperCheap. I've used it to hold most stuff in the P38A without the need to drill holes.
The CB radio head unit is also double-sided taped on.

Kev.
Yeah I know
My Magellan GPS mount sticks to the windscreen. The maritime compass is screwed through the dash and helps to restrain the ever curling dash. I blame global warming. Thats a Disco 1A issue though
So I repeat what brand of GPS?

G'day Kev,
I borrowed a GPS from a friend to cross the Simpson last year.
I mounted the cradle over the narrow vent across the dash with two long screws through the vent grill.
The radio had to be removed to get in under the grill to put the nuts on.
It didn't budge during the trip, and there is no sign of where it was now it's gone!
Even though mine is a Series 1, I think the vent is the same on the Series 2.
If you want to PM your e-mail address, I can send you a pic.
Larry.

Kev,
I had the same dilemma for the recent trip with my Lowrance, I ended up with a remote antennae which stuck to the windscreen courtesy of suction pads and left me able to leave the GPS on the centre console thus no need to drill holes etc and can be removed without a trace.
Hope this helps.

I pulled the suction-capped antenna mount off my windscreen and one of the suction caps pulled out of the mount and fell into the demister slot.

At the time it was being marketed as such. Now I think it's the IIa or something. I'll change it later.

Now, I remember seeing just suction caps for sale somewhere!! If I remember I'll post it.
....Goes away to check satay chicken isn't burning....
I've been using it on the Disco 11 and I don't think there is a vent I can lose it, I guess I could stick it anywhere on the screen as long as it can get signal

I use a Magellan Meridian, sits in a cheap phone holder suction capped to the windscreen. The holder stays put but i have to use a rubber band on rough roads to hold the GPS in it. The CB is screwed to a piece of wood as a spacer and srew to the top of the dash. When the remote head one comes it'll double sided tape to the interior light with my ham rig remote. The rubber mat goes back in the dash to hide the holes.
Cheers

I use a Magellan Meridian platinum in my Disco 2.
I've got Magellan's windscreen mount and it sits right in the middle ontop of the dash.... works fine. I have had no dramas on corrugations... But then haven't done really long stretches of them.

One of these days I'll wire the power direct to the fuse box rather than using the poxy cigarette lighter plug..

Not sure which city you're in but may I suggest you investigate some of the companies that fit hands free kits for phones? I have had several phones fitted with a special bracket where the screws are put in from inside the console thus no external damage to the console. PM me and I'll give you the details of the company I've used. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

HI Kev,
What type of GPS is it? The pic I posted above of my Magellan is sitting in a factory magellen holder - 3 suction cups to the window--- no holes tape etc on the dash...
As I said I haven't tried much continual corrugation work with it.. but bouncing up steep rocky tracks in the high coubtry is sits there right as rain.
Most retailers want silly money for them unfortunately.... but I picked this one up for about $45 or something on ebay!...
I agree that the LAST thing you want to do is poke holes in the dash!..
Mark
