View Full Version : Hidden Diagnostic Screen?

I read in an oldish thread about a hidden screen that allowed access to diagnostics such as battery volts, among other things.
You simply need to press near the top of the home page on the touch screen and then enter a code.
Does anyone know if this or similar is available on newer models? I have an MY14 D4 and the mentioned steps to access the hidden screen don't seem to work.
Cheers,
Scott

I have a MY15 so may be different too. I can get to the system details by holding my finger on the Valet button until it appears (takes at least 10 seconds). If I tried holding my finger on the middle top of the homepage nothing happens. My understanding is that if you do get this diagnostic screen up the code to use is 753.

Yes the diagnostics screen can be accessed on a MY14 d4 by holding down the valet button for approx 30 seconds.
Sent from my HTC One XL using AULRO mobile app

Doesn't seem to be too many useful diagnostics (that I could find anyway). I was hoping for engine or drivetrain stats & battery stats. Mostly just related to the touchscreen itself. Did I miss something?
Also, scared myself with "Touch screen test" button. Whole screen went white and when pressed you only get little dots. Then it wouldn't
go away back to normal !! The missus is going to kill me. Turned it off and back on ..... Still all blank. Eventually managed to get rid of it by double-tapping screen. All back to normal now.
Cheers,

I used to play with my screen a few years ago,
Best feature was leaving on the reversing camera,
But once you turned off the ignition it defaulted back to normal screen functions
again.

Select the home screen

Press and hold the centre top of screen for 5 seconds ( Hidden button there)
Then press the L/H Button below the screen.
A window for a Pin number will show.
Enter 753.
You should be in.

That is interesting as I found (as per my reversing camera install thread), that the screen on my MY14 D4 uses a NTSC format camera input when running the camera when reverse is selected etc, but if I select the video input through the service screen, the camera input comes up as grey static as it wants a PAL video format. I know this as I swapped the camera to a PAL camera and it would work via the service screen but got the grey static when I selected reverse.

So is there anything useful we can do in there?

Not with the given access code. Seems to be screens to check co figs, SW build etc.
Probably other codes that give you ability to change settings but unless you know what you are doing I would not be playing with them.

Hmm ... I have an October 2014 SD Disco, and I have a Traxide dual battery system. While I have good voltage in the vehicles rear Anderson plug (the new Traxide one), the Anderson plug is not charging the caravan.
The van has new batteries ...
So Timothy at Traxide said try to access the secret screen and then view its battery voltage readings.
I have not yet found this screen!!!
I'll try the Valet button and go on from there, but from the sound of it, its not likely.

Holding the valet button down for about 30 seconds does come up with a screen or screens of info....but with nothing of any real value.
