Thanks, lebanon, it's a great insight into the production of the Defender and how labour intensive it is. I wonder what will happen to all those people once production ceases at the end of this year?
I also wonder if they were washing the finished product in the film or was that the infamous leak test.:lol2:

I don't think that they were washing the finished product and it wasn't also the leak test.
This test is called "the quantitative fluid transition", this test measures the acceptable quantity of water that enters the defender when raining. :)

Wow! It's still a very labour-intensive process, isn't it?
I guess with this being the last year for the Defender, they wouldn't be spending too much on infrastructure.
I wonder how long it takes to build one from go to whoa?

Its the most expensive vehicle LR make... Costing them more to build one (including the vehicles cost itself) than it is to make the L322

I miss the assembly line,,,, such a great way to build things. So easy when you have all the right equipment :D
Looking at the guy filing/sanding that front panel, one would have thought that they were thin/flexible enough to bend at full section, let alone making them a smaller/thinner sectioned piece. Might have to take a bit more care when I'm mucking around with mine.
