Hi all,

Perhaps my search techniques need some improvement, and I apologise if this topic is covered in detail somewhere else on this forum...

I have two new aftermarket wiper motors for a series 2 (see pic) and am in the process of fitting them.

In one sense, this is a pretty straightforward procedure, but niggling little obstacles keep presenting themselves. Is anyone who has successfully fitted these kinds of motors willing to have their brain picked?

I have already discovered a brief tutorial on a British website, and it has helped up to a point, eg., drilling out larger holes for the shaft to fit through the windscreen frame; but, there are still issues I'm struggling with.

cheerio,

Garry

Pretty straightforward once you know how; BUT, a bit tricky when you've never done it before or seen it done.

Now for the other one...

Ahah! The black motors. I bought two of those from the web, and the shaft is way too long. As far as I could see, they are unsuitable for a series 2 a and I sent them back to england with a terse note. I am using these little silver ones as sold by rover parts, they fit ok but elsewhere I find them described as light duty and not for prolonged use. Charming. Another thing is that they are for boats, and boats don't do 60-70 km h in rain so presumably this puts a whole lot of stress on them that they are not designed for.
Has any one found an after market substitute?
I still have the originals, very much not working, but I see that you can get changeover reconditioned ones for 100 pounds, from John Craddock.
