Welli hope the old saying" you can,t teach an old dog new tricks" is not true because i just bought myself a 2004 L322, so going from a truck that only needed electrickery to start and work the lights, I now have one that honks and whistles at me and even has a TV, Even the ignition switch where the key fits is in the wrong place, lol I am in for a steep learning curve, but she certainly drives better than the TDi
I will be spending more time here to beg for help.

Congrats mate. Pics required.

I did a similar move a couple of months ago. I'm still learning. FullfatRR site in the uk also has some good info.

Congrats :)

They are a great car to drive and I still smile every time I drive ours (which isn't often, as SWMBO is glued in the drivers seat usually):D

I was very close to doing the same thing and replacing my son's TDI 300 D1 auto with a TD6 L322, which are incredibly cheap for their quality and ability. In the end I didn't because of the auto issues, which our transmission repair shop said was a real problem with the GM boxes.

As per some recent posts some people seem to have a good run with the autos, but not everyone! Anyway, my son is now keeping his D1, which he loves but has cost us a fortune in repairs due to its 350,000km plus age and the hard time he gives it off road with his mates and touring in remote areas with us in the D4.

Good looking rig, hopefully all goes well!

I see you are a perth man, if you are keen to get a bull bar made pop into X-rox and get them to make one...that way we can all buy one!
