After spending last weekend fitting a Towpro and 12 pin flat socket to the D4 it was time this morning to attach a trailer and try this stuff out.

Fitted the standard LR hitch with an Ark 3.5t tongue and hooked up the bike trailer. This trailer has dual drop axles, has a 4m bed and is fully enclosed so it weighs 750kg empty

Checked all the lights and confirmed the little trailer icon lit up on the dash then set the Towpro to calibrate and started the car.

I was expecting the Towpro to start calibration once I had some speed on board and got a real shock when it locked the trailer brakes after I had moved about 3 feet.

It locked the brakes twice more before I got out of the driveway and the blue led set and all appears to be good.

Note to self, if I don't want any more skid marks in the driveway then I should wait till I'm on road before I set the Towpro to calibrate

Other than the lock-ups was it an easy process & as per the instructions? I'll be doing the same soon when I get the new camper trailer.

Cheers,
Scott

I have a long gravel driveway and I too thought it calibrated at some speed (did the instructions lead me to believe that?) - You can imagine what the driveway looked like when I turned around for a look :)

When mine calibrated with the caravan on the back there was a slight shudder, certainly no lock up. The van does weigh northwards of 2.5 tonnes though.
