Hi All,

I spotted this on the 101 Facebook page the other day - it's a really interesting video explaining prop-shafts...

So it's particularly relevant for 101's but it could be interesting for anybody with a Land Rover.

Anyway - it's an interesting video (an American company):

Video: driveshaft angle and phasing | Mac's Motor City Garage (http://www.macsmotorcitygarage.com/2014/07/26/video-driveshaft-angle-and-phasing/)

Gosh I feel like a mega nerd - but this video really explained things well for me. :wasntme:

Simply brilliant. Thanks. I'm not a mechanic so had no Idea about that stuff.

X2. Im a mechanic and I knew about phasing etc but really didnt know why. The card thing was a brilliant way to demo that. Thanks for that.

And this is exactly why the 101 front shaft rumbles.. The gearbox front output flange is tipped up as the engine sits nose high. The front diff sits level. Instantly you have rumble, especially as the top joint (gearbox end) is running at virtually its max angle from new! Dropping the RH side of the engine, or the nose of the engine by 25/30mm will cure it. Front bump stops have to be modified to suit tho! :)
