Hi,

I'm having problems with both front electric windows and the RLH door lock and will need to remove the inner panels from the doors to give me access.

What tool do I need to unclip the fasteners?

Is there anywhere I can buy replacement plastic fasteners? I'm sure I'll break some in the process of removing the panels..... :o

I made a tool from a kitchen knife, by cutting a slot in the end, and then bending the knife blade about 40MM from the tip.

The thicker the knife the better, and I have used it on many of the plugs including all of the rear side panels, the tailgate etc.

You can get new exact plugs on Ebay, and there is a selection on a stand in all Supercheaps.

you used to be able to buy a set of claw tools from most of the supercheap type stores. I got mine about 3 years ago, but I'm a bit far away from you.

Thanks guys,

Looks like I'll be visiting Supercheap!

Is it likely they'll also have the fasteners? I looked on eBay but could only see the red ones for the rear door panel. Jag Prestige Spares have them, but they're very expensive.

Gday Dave,

Places like Repco etc have heaps of different sorts, only a matter of taking 1 with you. Also there is a Worths next to the thirsty camel bottle shop in benison rd Winnellie that sells heaps of those sorts of fittings as well.

Cheers Ean

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I went down to Supercheap yesterday and picked up a tool and found the correct fasteners on eBay ($9.95 for 10 with free postage) from an Aussie seller.

Hopefully the regulators will lob here this week.

Now I've discovered that the passenger side front door lock is playing up!

Is this why it's called a Discovery? :)

Try Palmerston Paint and Panel (I think that the name) not far from Supercheap Pinelands. They specialise in auto repairs and have sets of thin plastic forks for removing panels. If memory is not tricking me, also have a range of replacement plugs.

Pulled the door trims last night, and the $12.95 tool from Supercheap was awesome! Didn't even break any clips! :o Of course, if I hadn't bought the clips, I would have broken heaps.....

Unfortunately, whoever has tried to fix the windows in the past has made a huge mess of the mounting holes for the regulators..... I'm hoping I can find replacements for all the missing bolts and maybe put in some large flat washers to "recreate" the mounting holes. Here's hoping that I can get the regulators into the correct positions.....

Could you post a link to the eBay item - I have to buy a few as well...

Thanks!
