Hi
I have acquired a CTEK mxs 10. I want to use it to keep my D4 battery in good nick. I have been doing a lot more shorter trips lately.
I have a traxide sc80 dual battery set up with an optima yellow top as the 2nd battery. I intend charging via the white (european) trailer point with a plug purchased from the UK.
My question is what mode should I use AGM , or normal battery, does it matter ?.
Cheers for any help
Tony

I would think Drivesafe will be along shortly to confirm, but I would think you would use the "normal" setting.

The white plug is connected to your starter battery from factory, and this is the one you want to charge with this method.

Hi Tony, as both above.

Also, because you have an Optima AGM, you can use the AGM mode with your cranking battery.

No matter which mode you use, do not leave the charger on for long periods, like weeks at a time.

A few days at a time while in AGM mode is perfect for charging low batteries, say when you are at a powered campsite.

If you are going away for a long period and you need to leaving the charger connected, then stay with the ?NORMAL? mode and fit a timer to turn the charger on and off.

By doing this, you lessen the chance of drying the batteries out.

Thanks for all the replies and Tim for the extra tips and advice.
I will now charge with confidence.

I have the traxide dual battery set up with the optima,I use mine in AGM mode as both batteries are AGM.

Been doing it for a couple of years now,no problems.

I leave it on overnight every couple of weeks,as the vehicle(D4) doesn't get used a lot.
