Hi guys just to know your thoughts and experiances. Has anyone tried those dash kits you can get from America, where you just stick on wood trim or finish of your choice. My L322 has that metalic silver sparkly stuff on a lot of the trim and in places it is just scratching off, looks grubby and is just black plastic underneath, would those plastic stickon covers be worth considering or should i just scratch all the glitter off and leave it Tojo black? Your thoughts please.

Yes i have looked at that site, also CARiD they carry all sorts of bits, what i was asking for was if anyone had put their advertising to the practical test:) and if so what was their impressions, there are also heaps of kits on ebay, different makes etc. Some are obviously better than others, if someone has tried a paticular make, how did you find it?

I looked at a couple of how to videos and it doesn,t look too hard, i also watched one yesterday where a bloke stuck a cover with led lights over his wingmirrors, looked classy but maybe more the Claremont cruiser type.lol:D2

I've used a couple of Powful Uk bits; interior door pull covers in "walnut". They are plastic and stick over existing handles; look ok and have been there heavy use now for about 18 months- no signs of wear.
Rest of dash, I bought a used kit of genuine walnut dash and door trims; found a s/h walnut and leather steering wheel-- that is just beaut for driving/great feel.
Outside door handle covers are polished stainless steel- same stick over original handles,; they needed a little attention with fine stone as edges were sharp, prior to fitting.
Just need some window switch covers-- powful have similar walnut look stick-overs; one day soon.

Sounds good, pics please, the car does make you want to dress it up doesn,t it . These are the sort of bits that need covering>

By the way Mike how did you manage to get a RHD kit from USA, every kit that i looked at specified that it was for LHD only and aparantly the window sill is also different in the LHD, let me know how you go.

Looks good, yep that is a difference. If my trim wasn,t in that sparkly stuff i wouldn,t even be looking for dash trim, it just looks cheap and i can,t see why LR put them on in the first place, I,ll wait till i hear from (Ranger)Mike about the American soft ones and then decide whether to lash out on the UK trim

If you are prepared to watch and wait, genuine walnut trim kits , albeit used, come up on Ebay Uk from time to time. That's where I got mine. It cost me around $800 landed here, some 16 months ago.

The Trim kit arrived i have fitted the doors and half the dash so far . The material is flexible until its stuck on so its easy to form around the bends etc. cost me $ 170 Aud . Im happy its a good match with the existing wood trim. The chrome door handels arrived as well only took half an hour to fit and makes a huge difference. I will post some photos tomorrow. I have to rebook for the multimedia fittment as we were delayed in Brisbane. The trim kit fits the new multimedia facia as well so it will all look genuine. I also picked up fridge freezer today so now i need a dual, battery setup. :)

Parked in hot sun today for several hours no lifting stuck soundly . Unlike the genuine wood kit these respond brilliantly to a bit of armourall without the crazing or clear coat cracking. Did i mention it was cheap as well $170 aud free postage . I like the way they do buisness in the states quick reliable and good coms. :)

Hey looks better than a bought one, you have me convinced. I just need to sort out some dash ends as well, that sparkley stuff "foundry?" is just peeling off everywhere, maybe it can,t take the Aussie heat or it was a friday job and they forgot to prime the plastic.

Looks good Mike
