116k km on a 2007 D4... A slight knock from the rear as I accelerate from stand still. Diagnosed as a rear diff issue, $4k quoted by the stealer...

Has anyone else suffered rear diff problems ?? Should I trust their diagnosis or go for a second opinion? I've found a recon rear diff for $1,700 fitted which would you go for ?

Cheers
Daryl

I had a standard diff replaced by the local dealer for about $1600 late last year. E-diff is a lot more expensive. So, begs the question, what kind of diff ?

As others have said, that is way to much for a standard diff,it is E diff price.

So the $1,700 for a recon unit installed is still over priced?
I never did trust Trivetts the $4k just seemed ridiculous especially as they needed to order it from the UK and I would have to wait 3 weeks.

Don't know exact prices, but the local dealer here told me the E diff is in the $4k area, fitted.

I would ring a good LR independent tomorrow in your area and find out more.

Someone in your area may chime in and be able to give some good advice on who to ring.

Try getting a quote from Purnell or Graeme Cooper Automotive to get a sanity check.
