Alright let me see if i can explain this correctly.

I am about to install a set of rocker switches in a custom housing in the cubby box of my 2008 Puma.

I have already installed an AUX fuse box and relays under the drivers side seat which all the accessories are wired to, so all the wiring for the switches will be routed to it.

My problem is i need a feed to power the LED lights within the switches to come on when the headlights come on. I understand i could piggy back off the light to the 12v socket in the dash, but that would require pulling the dash off (which i'd like to avoid if possible).

Is there a wire under the drivers seat that i could tap into that's active only when headlights are on? this would be perfect because i could run a single conduit from under the seat to the cubby box with all the required wiring contained.

Otherwise, which are some other options?

Thanks in advance!

I just had a look at my MY11 and there is no park/headlamp fuse in the fuse box that was under the seat.
As an option there is an ignition power sources that could be used.
This would bring the switch back lights on with the ignition not the parkers if it suits your needs.

G'day,
You cannot power the LED lights in the switch from a separate power source. The led lighting within the switch is hard wired to the ON contact. The LED light also requires an earth connection for the light to operate. This means that the LED light will come on when the switch is set to the ON position and the circuit connected to the ON contact is operating.
Best Regards Chris

My reading of the OP was wanting to get the "back lights" working from the parker circuit, not the "switch on" light.
I assumed(I know, dangerous) as being in a custom housing thy would be after market large rectangle type switches.
I have switches sourced through Mulgo for that original look that are back light on parkers and also have a LED when turned on.
We may need to wait for clarification.

Sorry i should have been more specific. They are Carling rocker switches which are illuminated by LED lights within the switches. These lights are illuminated whenever the parker light curcuit in the car is activated, there is a seperate light which becomes illuminated when the Carling switch is flicked ON.

G'day Keath,
Thank you for the clarification. The Carling Technology switches are excellent quality switches from the USA. I can't help you with the Puma wiring however there must be someone who has had a similar problem of finding the parker/dash light circuit to tap into without taking the dash off! (Maybe a new thread asking for a tap off point). Good luck.
