The recent email from AFM included reference to several EMEIs including one on Servicing Instructions (G 109 dated 8/9/2014). I have been using Issue 1 (Oct 1987) of the EMEI which I think came from the REMLR database and have just finished a 6 month service, 9000 kms after taking delivery.

The 1987 one uses:
10,000km or 6 months
20,000km or 12 months
40,000km or 24 months

The Sept 2014 EMEI uses:
12 monthly visual inspection
10,000km or 24 months
20,000km or 48 months
40,000km or 96 months

In both cases the transmission and diff oil is replaced at 40K (24 versus 96 months), the engine oil every 6 months versus every 24 months.

This seems to be a very large difference for a 1988 vehicle. Wouldn't the engine oil (RX Super) in the transmission tend to breakdown over a 96 month period?

What service intervals do you guys use?

G'day Mike, A lot depends on how much you use the vehicle I guess. I actually change my engine oil at 5000k intervals but gearbox/transfer go out to 20,000k. The oil in the gearbox/transfer doesn't get to see the extreme temperatures that the engine oil does so it will keep it's qualities much longer. Diffs I change out longer as well. Probably 50,000k.
