Well, I have searched and searched, but can't find anything relating to my little issue.
When I depress the clutch pedal, it seems as though the clutch isn't being thrown right out, so I get it either grabbing, or hanging on to the last gear, before it goes to neutral.
I have of course, the squeaky pedal as most seem to, will sort that soon enough, but now it feels to be quite notchy when pressing it down. Also, it seems to have to be pushed further before it disengages.

Any ideas folks?

Adjust the height (therefore free play) in the clutch pedal box.

See page 632 of puma workshop manual

Also bleed clutch fluid to make sure there's no air in the system. In fact, do this first.

Notchiness see my post on the other thread - I just solved mine

Cheers, Sam

Might have a spring (or piece of broken spring) popped out of clutch plate, and fouling around pressure plate mechanism.

Good luck sorting it out. Cheers

I hope it's not the clutch disintegrating,, I'm not sure it's done 20K yet

As already mentioned, one of the springs in the driven plate may have come adrift, while the most common sign of a Puma clutch going is the rattle in neutral, they dont always do it.

On a positive note though, doing a clutch on a Puma is without a doubt the easiest to do on any Land Rover ever!

Well, all fixed :D

My good mate Chris (rangieman) and myself bled the clutch system on Thursday night. We couldn't believe how black the fluid was that came out.
So now, it seems to change well, there's no over revving, just have to fix that blasted squeak now

Squeak fix, if same cause as mine, will require you to remove the master cylinder... so need to bleed the system again!

What part is squeaking? Do we know?

G'day Mick. The noise seems to come from the rod within the pedal assembly as descibed by Sam in this thread :-

Sam's put alot of effort into working it out and then fixing it, with good results, so I'll follow suit.

However, It'll have to wait until after Easter, just not enough time and money before that. I'll do the do the clutch and do all the brakes (replace rotors, pads and fluid ) at the same time if I can. No doubt it'll be a big weekend. I might need some moral support Mick ;)
