Mal Leyland was on talk radio this morning, it was an interesting story listening to him telling their life story.
Looking forward to tonight's show :)

It is nice to see how a Mal and his wife with only determination managed to rebuild their life.
have to be dam hard after having cancer and not a good health.
Good on them, and example for many to follow.

What a story.
They seemed to be first at everything.
Good on Mal for never giving up.
He is an inspiration.

I found it interesting. I never became a big fan of theirs, probably because I never lived anywhere with television during their heyday - but I did meet them in the Simpson in 1966, and get two pages in their book ("Where dead men lie")!

There is an even more original/earlier Leyland Brother's Station Wagon at the Birdwood Mill. The wagon that did the coast to coast crossing. Pretty sure it was in tonight's show getting stuck in some dunes.

Excellent. Quite a sad story. It brought back many happy memories. When my perants emigrated in 1979 we used to sit as a family and watch the Leylands and mum would dream of the places we could go to. She was the adventurer in the family.
Very good program.

And its great that they haven't restored it. Hard to beat an old Landy with that history and the battle scars and time worn look to prove it.

Definitely. When We were there last, there was also another Landrover on display, a Series 1 I think.
We have friends, also car enthusiasts, that we visit in Humbug Scrub, so we sometimes visit the Museum when we're over.

Yep, we visited Humbug Scrub last time we visited the Motor Museum. Went to a wildlife sanctuary there. They had an open day, was Easter a couple of years ago. I hope it survived the fires...it was dry as hell at the time and in a bit of a valley so it would have been a disaster if the fire went through that section in January:(
