Hi All
I have today called AAMI to get a quote for my new campertrailer only to be told that they will not insure an imported campertrailer (not on their list) - It's an ECHO Kavango marketed by the local Sydney distributor ECHO4x4 - ordered and scheduled for delivery in about 8 weeks from now.
Has anyone had a similar experience? and has anyone insured their imported campertrailer successfully? as there are a definitely a few brands around that are not Australian built
cheers David

Try CIL Insurance, they insured my home built caravan for me.

Thats surprising as you said there are a lot of imported trailers on the market and increasing each year.

Ours is locally built but both times we had to get RACWA to enter the details into their system. If they haven't insured one of yours before they probably won't have a record in their system of the brand.

Thanks guys for your input.
Spoke to CIL as suggested thanks and very helpful - while we were speaking the lady looked up the ECHO4X4 brand on the Internet to verify local distributor noting that she had "quoted for one of those yesterday" which was probably true.
I wonder if AAMI are reacting to all the troubles with Chinese built trailers but if so its a pretty blunt tool - especially based on AAMI unhelpful position I now intend to move all my insurances, D4 & House & Contents & landlords, along with the camper when its delivered.
Thanks for everyone's helpful input. Cheers David

aami really only do stock vehicles. too much hassle with custom stuff.

and yes, long term customers/loyalty is not rewarded, quite the opposite in fact.

Couple of years ago I was shopping around for insurance on my Landrovers. AAMI said they were not on their computer, so they were not interested.

Gee....! They must have a very short list.

NRMA were happy to insure our new overseas fabricated Australian assembled camper trailer. Just a few basic questions. They'd never heard of the brand but that was no issue.

There list assumed the world was created in 1990!
