hi all, well it's time to start a few jobs that have been bugging me, I've a oil leak around the oil filter, I don't think it's the oil filter, anyone have some usual suspects that I can start with, I'm thinking wax stat oil pipe o ring for a start. It's started to fill the top of the diff up with oil a bit annoying! Cheers for any ideas ted.

Check the oil line to the cooler/radiator for starters. Mine came adrift completely over corrugations on our last trip :(:(

I had chance today to have a look around the oil filter and it's hard to say, the oil pressure switch is my guess at the moment, but it's so cramped around there. The drip come down the oil filter and then drops on the diff, is there anything that you'd advise to put around the switch to stop it leaking? Thanks for any advise. Ted

Hi, I changed the O ring on the wax stat oil cooler and it's now leaking just as much if not more! I did notice that the original O ring was actually triangular which kind of made sense, the new one is round. Anyone dealt with this issue before? Cheers

The O rings are round when new and deform to the angular shape after time. That is normal

I had a similar issue which turned out to be oil 'wicking' down the thread of one of the thermostat housing bolts. A bead of silicon around the centre of the thermostat housing (to block) and another bead under the mounting bolt heads fixed the problem.:D

Another possible culprit is the rocker cover breather hose.

A couple of jobs to get out of the way today, and then I'll give it another crack, this time using sealant as well, the funny thing about the old seal/oring is that it seems to be made out of nylon and not rubber like the new seal, and as I said angle shaped to fit.
