3M makes a clear film that would be applied to bonnets to stop/reduce stone chips/scratches. It was suppose to be removable as well without damaging the paint. I knew someone who worked at 3M locally several years ago and he mentioned it to me so I guess that you may be able to pick it up locally.

PS I have no association with 3M or suppliers, etc..
