Hi all;
I am new to this forum and new to land rover ownership. I have recently purchased a 2002 Disco 2 with the 4.0L v8. I drove it non stop for about 800ks back to my home when I purchased it without a problem. It does have an oil leak, but what Land Rover doesn't.
The next day after I got home I crawled underneath to look at the oil leak. But then I noticed a coolant stain on the drivers side at the back of the engine. The coolant level is still full and no overheating issues at this stage. Is this a sign of the head gasket starting to leak? Or is there a hose or something at the back? It has 190k on it and according to the previous owner it has never overheated. If he is telling the truth of course. Any help would be appreciated.......

That's expected at this distance, the head gasket often weeps at this point due to age. It will get slowly worse over time so a set of top end gaskets should be on your to-do list for the near future. At the same time replace all the plastic fittings and rubber hoses around the front of the engine as all of these can fail too. But first off your best insurance will be a low coolant alarm. That'll reduce your chance of the melt down happening on your watch.:)

Coolant overflow will also drain to that area. Keep a keen eye on the level in the tank,

Yes its the head gasket.
The only coolant outlet is on the Filler bottle, miles away, and thats only used to release system pressure.
While you have the heads off, do the valley cover gasket.
