This is great news , shows it can be done even in hard financial situation.

From the article:
The project cost about $100 million and has two operating units, with a third to be added, for what will be a three-megawatt project.
I believe this is a pilot plant to be evaluated.
If it works:
with wave energy - we need to be building 20 megawatts, 50 megawatts, 100, 200 megawatt power stations and we would be cost-competitive
It's a culmination of about 10 years work, about $100 million in funding, most of it from shareholders

I saw it on a recent episode of Coast Australia..
Speaking of alternate energy, have you seen this generation of power by the water flowing through city water supply lines.

South Australia had a mini hydro generator installed around 12 years ago at the foot of the Adelaide Hills to recover some of the energy used to get the water up there from the Murray River. There are now other units installed around Adelaide to harness energy that would otherwise be wasted.

There are tidal generators in other countries. What tides have over waves is the tides are a very reliable occurrence. Waves vary quite a bit.
