Hi all, owner of a D4 SE 2010 3.0 for 25K kms and it would seem my headlight washers dont work.Correct me if I am wrong, they come on with windscreen squirters and headlights on once every 5 washer squirts?? Anyone know where to start in locating a problem, does it use the same motor as the windscreens? plumbed to ?

Thanks in advance Paul

That is how they are supposed to work.
Thank god its not a Mercedes ML then, as it only comes on every 10 squirts!!!!

Ok, is the washer bottle full? There is a sensor in the bottle for low level & if not above this level will only squirt windscreen only & not headlights.
Cheers

Have you checked fuses? Located behind lower glovebox.
Bottle has 2 washer pumps, One for front & one for rear.
Both located L/H/F of vehicle, may need to either remove wheel arch liner &/or bumper to gain proper access.
Swap over washer pumps to see if the other works well & that will tell if it is the pump.
Has it had a bumper/bullbar replacement?

Cheers

I'm to be convinced that they actually "wash" anything.

They will clear a small amount of fresh mud off the headlights to a point but otherwise they just make an annoying mist !

I've had a bug strike that made a noticeable shadow on the road...

Washed that away just nicely...

And mud (excluding uber clay) comes off quickly if you do it straight away
