Suffered the indignity of a RACQ lift home recently. This was the cause:

Took the opportunity to replace the auto & torque converter + bigger cooler to match the new flex plate fitted as the whole lot has done 313k & was starting to slip & get hot while towing.

Also had a newer ECU map from Bruce Davis + big intercooler + boost controller + free flow center muffler.

Should be good for another 300k. Just going to happen a hell of a lot quicker & mostly in top gear now.

Crikey! Good effort. Did you replace it with a stock flexplate or an uprated one?
It must have made an interesting noise... How much warning did you get?

Replaced with standard. It gave no warning at all. Towing the van up a gentle incline with the TC locked in 3rd when it lost drive. No noise, I thought that maybe the transfer case had slipped into N.
The box was out 40k ago to fix a front seal oil leak. Now, with the benefit of hind sight, I should have fitted a new flex plate then as a precaution.

I have a similar looking flex plate in the shed. I think the stress of the dumb arses taking my auto in and out a couple of times lead to its death.
I plan on turning mine into a wind chime.

or an uprated one?

Does such an item exist?
