View Full Version : PED Range Rovers - Early 1970's

Does anyone have any info regarding early Range Rovers that came to Australia via the Personal Export Delivery (PED) scheme?

I have read through other sources that this was a common occurrence for British cars of the era and was done so to avoid paying Taxes associated with an Australian delivered vehicle.

I have recently received an email stating my Range Rover was assembled on 24th February 1972 and was a Private Export Delivery to someone called "Fletcher". No further details than that.

Do these records exist somewhere?

Never heard of the PED scheme. Is that different to the ckd production of that time?

From what I've found PED stands for - Personal Export Delivery, story goes that in the early days demand outstripped supply and majority of cars were allocated for UK home market.

PED vehicles were ordered through Land Rover UK and then exported to country of your choice. There are quite a few early PED vehicles that have come to Australia, I'm guessing as the official Australian complianced vehicles were available through the official channels these would have tapered off.

The 72 that's next in line to restore is a PED and the other 72 I have for parts is an October complianced vehicle.
