Well i finaly got around to fitting the Digoptions multi media system today. I took it to Peter at Platinum car audio in Ryde hes a mobile guy but i went to his place as i new it was going to be a little more difficult than a normal repacement.
The unit is the same as for the x5 and several other BMW vehicles. At first it didnt look like it was going to fit but with a bit of surgery to the hidden plastic frame we were able to rotate the whole unit and get a nice even curve top & bottom. Everything works sat nav is great with on & off road maps ,reverse camera & forward recorder cam. The radio & stereo are much improved. Hands free phone is very clear. Blue tooth conectivity is quick and i can play music from my ipad or phone. The gps warns you when you are over the speec limit which is very clever.
I will post a few pics over a few posts.

I had some wood trim bits left over from kit i recently fitted so i cut these up to cover the side of the curve of the unit.

So those of you were waiting to see how good it worked out can go ahead and get one. If your fitting it yourself i took a video of the surgery required for the rear frame. A mini air reciprocating saw does this very well & a mini air linisher to tidy op the cuts. If you live in Sydney its worth having it done by a professional for $250. Now Peter has done mine the next one will be twice as quick but it may pay to do tne wood trim kit as well really sets it off nice.

Looks great. How is the sound quality?

Im mot sure the exact wattage but its over double the original. Very clear no distortion . It has amplifer capability to add on but thatbwould be wasted on me.
But you never know . I now have a redundant CD Stacker if anyone wants one . I have thousands of songs on my ipad so dont use the stacker.

DM, can I ask where the rear camera is mounted? I'm about to add one to back of my car as the absurd one at the top of rear windscreen cant see the tow ball (needless to say yours has nailed that problem lol!!!.

I was going to attach to rear number plate...but is yours in the bumper?

Cheers

Drove around a few car yards today looking for RRL322 or D3 for the daughter. Found a few V8 s but no diesels. After running a V8 on Parramatta road while my TD6 was running close by with the grandson inside sleeping in the aircon. When i went to reverse out of the yard the reverse camera ceased to work. I have tried everything but its a no go. Im wondering if it picked up the Canbus signal from the V8 and its confused or was it just coincidence. :(

Ok this system has been in for a few months now so i thought i would give you a review. It crashed once a few weeks back i emailed the dealer they sent me an upgrade which was easy to download and this fixed the problem. It also upgraded all the new roads & speed limits. The reverese camera went funny for a few days but it healed itself and has been working fine ever since. I like the navigation its easy to use and very accurate. The radio & stereo are very good. When traveling my copilot plays tunes from the ipad direct using bluetoth. The hands free is very good my phone is set up on bluetooth I dont have to do anything it rings through the car system as soon as its running.
Things i dont like.
No electronic speed readout ( i might be able to add this )
Radio doesnt mute for voice directions ( maybee i havnt set it up )
Once you reverse or get a call it doesnt automatically go back to Navigation screen. I have to touch the screen icon.
Now a few people recon because it came from China it wouldnt last so far so good. The sellar has been great and the 2 year warranty is as good as any euro brand gives. I get free updates for the nav which is better than my Tom Tom gave me. It looks good in the dash, graphics are good , sounds good.
I triec to buy a similar unit for the daughters D2 but couldnt get one the same. I did buy a Chinese one though very similar with A 1 din unit & folding touch pad screen. It has the same Nav graphics. :)

I recently bought a reversing camera for my 2003 from Prestige Fix, on ebay. He does a lot of stuff for RR and BMW in way of sound, etc. In Sydney.
Integrates into the original system; thru dash screen. Camera mounts beside one of the number plate lights ( have to drill a 22mm hole) so is a little off centre but doesn't take long to get used to positioning tow hitch! Saves getting in and out as can get with 20mm or so to ball!
I've also fitted a Audiovox Mediabridge unit that plugs into where the CD stacker was, in glovebox; it has bluetooth/phone kit so now all hands free! You can plug into it USB, Ipod/Iphone, Sat radio, aux. All works through the original system.
