Hi all. I have a 99 td5 disco 2. I was looking under the passenger side door and noticed what appears to be a battery cradle. Is this a viable place for a second battery? Has anyone used this for one.. I have checked online and typically 2nd batteries are mounted in the void in the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall. Any info would be great. Thanks

I did consider this location as well but will not be going down that route. My compressor bracket it bent up from hitting rocks or sticks:p. So its a fairly exposed location for a battery.

Look in the verandah section. Carldjohnson sells dual battery trays for the D2. Excellent bit of kit and great price.

I've got a battery in my SLS tray and it's been fine.
Been there a few years (Dead now but getting replaced when I find the right size)
I would maybe have put a shield on it to stop it getting whacked by rocks? and you'll need some thick cable to strop voltage drop.
Obviously you need a Gel batt because it'll be on its' side.
I have a cradle under the bonnet too but the battery keeps getting cooked, even with a heat shield. And it's a V8.

I just bought Carl's dual D34 mount as well. I haven't installed it yet, but it is beautifully made and will tidy up a corner of the engine bay that I haven't been happy with. Moving the jack to somewhere in the cabin appeals.
