Got my final under warranty dealer service done the other day. They forgot to reset the oil service indicator, amongst of few other more important service items. At least I can do my own services now and know it gets done properly.

Anyway I learned how to reset the indicator, today
Fully depress brake and accel pedals and hold down simultaneously, turn on ignition with key (dont start). Hold for about 15 seconds until oil light flashes. Turn off ignition release pedals.
I assume it resets to Landrover spec 20,000 and 12 mo
Ive asked BBS if a custom reset is an option for MSV2 for the Puma module but its not available for Defenders

Hi,

I've got a 2012 2.2 puma with No DPF.

My Oil Service warning (on the odometer) came on the other day. Its been about 9000 km and 10 months since the last oil change.
The bill from Land Rover Dealer for the last service (10 months ago) indicated that Reset Service Warning had been done - so I am assuming this got done. If it hadn't have been done then Oil Service would have come up pretty quickly based on the time elapsed since the service before the last service.

I've been reading up on other sites that indicate that engines with DPF can need more frequent oil changes due to oil dilution.
I assume that doesn't affect our non DPF 2.2 engines.

For our Non DPF 2.2 Engines how does it know when to put the oil service warning indicator on?
Is it anything to do with driving style (calculated magically by the ECU) ? or is it simply 20 000 km or 1 year - what ever comes first.

The other slightly confusing thing is that my ultra gauge Service km indicates about 1500 km - I'm not sure how that works either. Any clues on that one?

I am not sure whether to do an oil change or wait for another 2 months when I usually do it.

Thanks.

Kerry
