Ive done a post in the tech chat but no real reply.
My 130 has 300,000km on it and needs the head/gasket doing :( managed to find a disco2 with very low km but a lot of body damage(roof)
Plan is to do an engine swap and maybe a few other things. but what swaps easily or with little effort and what is worth it? I would love the cluster swap or just tacho and have thought about complete driveline even though i have rebuilt everything the last 2 years. only this that i havnt touched is the motor.
Any advice or pointing me towards a thread that someone else has done similar???

I haven't looked in the tech chat at your thread so will ask a couple of Qs.

TD5 or V8?
Auto of manual?

I have transplanted the entire D2 TD5 Auto and wiring into my 96 Dual Cab.
"130 Dual Cab for me" thread in projects and tutorials.
The bit that will interest you the most hasn't been posted yet ;)

Mechanically it is all easy direct bolt up.
Fitting a manual is easiest with a loom from a Defender and fit whatever came from factory regarding Tacho.

The D2 ECU is different to the Defender and motors have slight difference in wiring and plumbing for boost modulator ( not on Defender)

I've been so busy I Wong have the time to post the full info in the near future.

But
Feel free to PM me for a phone number and we can chat.
It will give you the answers and problems quickly to help you make a decision.

Just saw the Tech Chatter thread.
If you're just swapping the engine it's a straight swap with the removal of the boost modulator and recode the injectors into the ECU.
Fitting the D2 binnacle without the D2 loom can be done but you will need to be good with RAVE and wire splicing.
Speedo may be a problem.
Personally if staying with the original Defer looms, I'd graft a D1 binnacle in.

if it had been an auto would have been awesome, but its manual. still thinking about doing the complete driveline swap. doing alot more h'way km than off road so its a consideration.
