I've been having pinging problems for a while now, and I think I've got it sorted out. ...

What I'm wondering is would anyone know if their camshaft sensor is turned off whilst running lpg?

The problem is that due to a camshaft sensor fault the timing isn't retarding so that's what is causing it to ping on petrol.
According to the literature the gems system is supposed to retard the timing pretty much instantaneously - but is this really the case; as I've a modified chip to allow the ecu to advance beyond the factory map.

Also what would happen if a bit of lpg were leaking through when running on petrol?
Sorry for all the questions, but I need to get this sorted out.

If your injector power feed has been cut in a way to switch off the camshaft sensor, just run a new power wire for it from the hot side of the injector cut relay. LPG installers have varying knowledge of these things so don't assume anything without doing a thorough investigation yourself.

LPG leaking slowly would make it run a little rich at idle, can't see it making much difference under load. If in doubt, take the LPG feed hose off the mixer and see if any leakage is happening after turning off the engine. Leakage is normally limited to the amount between the LPG converter and the main gas lock valve. If this gas lock is faulty LPG could leak for longer than a minute or more.
