Hi all,
Do you want to come along to a 3 hr information seminar with like-minded LR owners (or even wanna-be owners) and learn some driving/towing/diagnostic/modification/emergency techniques?
Specifically for LR vehicles with Terrain Response (with some real-world video examples from our training days), we go into more detail than you'll find anywhere else. New dates for seminars in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth have been announced on our website:

One of the hazards of running an Australia wide company from Perth! My boss usually rings me from Sydney at 5:30am when he needs a quick answer. It's a pain in the neck. At least yours was just a text.

The seminars as listed on our web page are definitely going ahead, so book if your interested. There MAY also be a drive day in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide which, if they happen, will be on the same weekends as the corresponding seminars. I can only book 8 cars into drive days, as we insist on being able to provide tuition for each driver. So it's not like a club (or forum) getaway. However, if you want to double up in one car, that 's fine - there will be a flat rate for the vehicle.
This all depends on the numbers interested - it obviously costs a fair bit to get over and do these days. So if your interested in either event (the seminar and the drive day), please email me so I have you on the notification list.
Sydney, please watch this space - we'll get there. At this stage it will be a seminar only, but there's plenty of video tuition at the seminar.
Cheers,
Gordon

Hi Gordon.
Just curious as to why Sydney is not on the initial list of potential sites for a drive day. Not complaining, just curious :):). I'll be coming to the Sydney July seminar in any case.

Thanks for a top day today Gordon. Very informative with great practical lessons. For your first time in SEQ it went really well.
I've done plenty of 4wding over the years and the difference between the LR way and the old school way makes a course like yours invaluable. The thing I kept thinking on the way home, all the magazines and pundits talk about track ready vehicles like Jeep Rubicons and Defenders, they obviously don't know how to use a D4 properly. Thanks for showing me.

Any pics Keiren, I'm keen to see what happened after the RRV decided it didn't want to play. I'm very glad the day went well. I was a bit worried the Cooloola suggestion might have been too far afield.

No picks from me sorry, didn't even think about it.
What I also didn't think about was how far Cooloola was, been there plenty of times, but I did have to take off before the rest of the group went down to the beach. My fault as on reflection there's no way we would have got back to Noosa Ferry at three, I should of known that and made sure I had more time. Will just have to go back soon.
Other thing that was great was seeing how others had their cars set up, many accessories to get now!

I had a quick chat with Gordon this morning. The Kings Bore Track sounded an interesting experience, but soaked up quite a lot of time.
Cooloola is a great spot, but quite a drive from Brisbane.

I agree with earlier comments. It was a great day, well 2 days because the seminar was excellent too. Only downside was distance from Brisbane. I would have liked more time discussing all things Disco with everyone:)
It's a shame that we don't have the same variety of terrain closer to Brisbane, as seems to be the case with Perth. However, Gordon mentioned a Mt Cotton day that would cover other types of terrain later in the year and I am certainly in for that.
And I hope the RRV won't be too expensive to repair.
Thanks Gordon.
Cheers,
Scott

oh and for those of you asking, heres some pics of the aluminium extrusion i used to mount the maxtrax to my rhino pioneer platform at the back
I used two 1m lengths of 25x10x2mm hollow rectangular aluminium extrusion that i got from bunnings, some unistrut bolts and washers(i cut the spring in half to fit in the rhino channel) and the maxtrax mounting pins. The two lengths of aluminium sit parallel at the back of the roof rack, so that the maxtrax run along the back of the car.

Thanks all,
Apologies that the day went so much longer than we planned, partially due to numpties getting stuck on the track in front of us, but also underestimating the King's Bore circuit.
Could those that have a few photos and/or videos please email them to me. I got a few vids of the beach and the emergency stop exercise, so I can collate them all into one dvd and send it out to each participant. I'll need a postal address as well.
Yes, we're organising another (Level 2) course either late this year or early next, at the Mt Cotton 4WD circuit, which will be a hills/rock climb event. First preference will be to those that came to yesterday's event, but we should be able to handle a few more cars this time, as it's a closed track.
Cheers,
Gordon

Thanks Gordon.
Although I have been out to Cooloola more than a few times, it was a great day. Disappointing that it rained a bit and wet down the tracks, so there wasn't much of a challenge for the Discos. My daughter loved the emergency break exercise and I learnt a few more tricks about the D4.
Looking forward to the next course when you come up this way. I haven't been to the Mt cotton 4wd track before, but am keen to practice some other Disco terrain.
Also hope there's more time to talk to the other participants.

Well thanks to RobA (Adelaide) and XDrive (Brisbane), I have some decent venues to run a driver training session.
The day will be broken down into a morning theory + Q&A session (10am ~ 12noon), followed by a driver training session (2pm ~ 5pm) on hillclimbing and rock crawling.
The Adelaide session will be held about an hour out of the CBD, on Saturday 28th November.
The Brisbane session will be held about 20mins out of the CBD, on Sunday 13th December.
Melbourne and Sydney we're still working on, but I'm hoping for February 2016.
