I have just ordered my Ascroft ATB type B, for the center diff of my LT230Q transfer case, ( ex 2003 disco -2).

I bought it after following a lot of informative posts on the forum. Very good service dispatched within a day of the order, DHL delivery in Brisbane 5 days later

I have a spare Def' LT-230, so I can swap the rear output housing off it for the speedo drive. My transfer case has done 200,000 kms, and is still in good shape, (leaking oil of course). I'm thinking if i change it out now it can be rebuilt , the center diff has copped a hiding over the years and may be worth a look at.
Has any one installed the ATB themselves? It looks fairly straight forward. (i have a hydraulic press). My only worry is the transfer case if the TC housing is worn where the intermediate shaft is. Is there a repairer in Brisbane who can put the steel sleeves in the housing? cheers simmo

Hi You would think there would have to be someone who can machine a steel sleeve into the transfer, somebody is referbishing the LT230, but whether it's someone in Brisbane or not is a different matter! Interesting I was thinking of going down this path myself. Good luck, maybe try MR's in redcliffe, they would know.

Thanks for the tip, that's probably what I'll do, strip down the T- case and just swap it over for a steel sleeved one. Good to know someone is providing the service.

I figure if i use the steel sleeved TC, put in the ATB and all new bearings the TC should see me ok for another 200,000 kms. I have been reading the posts and one guy has put a heavier duty double row bearing in the rear output casing, with only a little bit of work that sounds like a good idea as well.

Can you share how much does it cost for the change over TC?

The ATB arrived yesterday at 5 pm. Picked up Friday afternoon in the UK, 3 days door to door, amazing 57 pounds delivery. Damn DHL is good at what they do.

I copped a bit of a flogging on the exchange rate, since the aussie dollar is low, cost delivered $820. Still not bad in my view, I'm not complaining, I'm paid in USD so doing ok there.
