So here we go again, currently have D 697's. Getting close to needing new tyres. 2006 D3. What are you all using. I think mine are 265/70/18. Sitting inside at the moment. Prefer a more aggressive tread. Not highway. Is there anything new out there. Off-road for me is more dirt and mud than anything else.
Thanks

I think mine are 265/70/18.
They are BIG tyres! Would rub like all buggery on my D4.

Check them and I think you will find they are 265/60x18. As Brett said, you will never fit 265/70x18.

They are 265/70x18 as stated...happy to share photo if really required!
Two tyres nearly worn out and two pretty well worn. One reasonably good...All from new!

Wow...
Like the other D4 guys, I was initially a little surprised they fit under there.
But when I look at a tyre size comparison site, they are slightly smaller in circumference than the 255/55/19 that come standard on mine!
255/55/19 Circumference 59.7 inches
265/70/18 Circumference 56.5 inches
So back to the original question..... what are people using?
I'm using Hankook Dynapro atm RF10, which I am happy with... but doesn't seem to come in the size you want.
Everyone I know still speaks highly of the D 697's

255/55/19 Circumference 59.7 inches 265/70/18 Circumference 56.5 inches
Not quite mate:
255/55-19....94.4 inch circumference or 30 inch diameter
265/70-18....102.4 inch circumference or 32.40 inch diameter
No way they would fit my D4 without severe fowling on steering. My tyres are 31.6 or thereabouts and rub slightly on steering, and on full articulation.

Look at the GOE web site for a pretty comprehensive list of available tyres for 18 inch wheels.

You took the words out of my mouth, Brett. I wonder how they fit a D3 and not a D4?

In 265/60-18 the Archilles Desert Hawk x-mt....nice and aggressive.
Or these Wranglers.
Can't find a great deal of anything in 265/70-18...they seem to be an unusual size.

Maybe coils with permanent lift and steering mods ?

I just think we were trying to clarify your tyre size and you did confirm what we thought.
Don't want to come up with a solution for a completely different tyre size.

I did look at the Goodyear Duratrac's, but is the 110 load rating a concern as it's right on the Discovery 3 minimum? Great looking tyre though!

The Achilles Desert Hawk X-MT's are getting good reviews both here and elsewhere online for a mud tyre option. Haven't seen any negative comments yet.

It is available in both 265/60R18 and 285/60R18 sizes: http://www.thewheeldeal.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=279_274&products_id=3503

Don't you hate it when web sites lie!...
Try putting the same tyre sizes in here: Tire Size Comparison (http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-comparison/) ... That's where my numbers came from:mad:
Apparently I calculated the circumference of tires that are 18/265 R70 rather that 265/70 R18 :oops2:
Obviously I need an idiot proof tyre calculator

I can't comment on the load, but I had the Duratracs on a D2a they were brilliant.

I'm running 265/60-18 Hankook Dynapro ATM on a 2007 D3 - Have done Cooloola ( sand ) Bellthorpe ( Mud and rocks ) and Sydney ( road) recently and was impressed by the tyre in all three situations . I have run more expensive/ aggressive tyres - Cooper STT ( Noisy and very slippery on wet bitumen ) and BG Goodrich A/T ( too stiff ) - I have friends trying to talk me into 20inch rims but ill stick with the 18s (cost & comfort, no rubbing )
. Its my daily drive so am taking the middle ground.
