how do I set the radio to continue without activating the "audio on" switch after the engine is shut-down?
Is there an "Accesory position" mode in the menu?

If the car has been running, and you turn it off, but still want to listen to the radio, you either push the button to turn just the radio on, or push the start button, without your foot on the brake.
Either way, the radio will only stay on until the car decides you have been there long enough... ;)
I have had it vary from 10 mins to an hour. Depends on the state of the battery. Radio is one of the first things to be shut down, if the car detects the battery is running down.

My radio is consistent at about 10 minutes, my battery should always be in a good state of charge, as a do quite a few KMs everyday just going to work.
It's very anoying! But it is a Land Rover afterall

Yes, very annoying!
My MY15 shuts everything off after 10mins. WTH for, surely the oversized battery will run the damned radio for longer than that!

The entertainment system runs the vehicles second Can Bus system, therefore it uses alot more electriggery as its not just providing music.

MY14 does same, shuts down after 10 minutes even if (with ignition/accessory off) you just push the radio button. There is a thread on here that discusses this and mentions removing one or two relays, but not sure which ones or the full consequence of such. I'll try find it and post a link if I can work out how.

So your "radio is consistent at about 10 minutes" after you have restarted the radio? The question is how do you "restart" without a stop when you cut the engine.

Do a search for this 'D4 getting accessories to stay on?" Post 15 I think talks of the two relays, but I would need more info (possibly from rufusking) as to the full implications. There is a On/Off button on the radio itself so it can be turned on when all else is off.

From what I have read in the past,if you use the entertainment system for any amount of time without the engine running you will get the low battery warning.

Hi Nicky,
Once it cuts out, I just press the big round knob on the left in the the centre to turn it on and the process starts again, I had a long wait tonight and got 3 x lots of approx 10 minutes, sometimes I get the low battery warning and it won't power up the radio unless I start the car. It's a bit hit and miss how many times I can do it before the low battery lamp comes on, but I have done a down south trip last week, so battery should be well and truly charged.

Nicky,
You just turn the radio on. No need to do anything with the accessory stuff. Just the radio switch will get it going until the car turns it off for you as the others have stated. When it turns off, just turn the radio back on.

That's the problem, when I stop the motor, the radio immediately stops. (no 10 minute play-on period)
I want it to continue without having to switch it on. As you say, there is a 10 minute play period from when it is switched on manually.

The radio will turn off with the car.
You will need to go through the manual procedure of pushing the button to turn it on again.

That thread is for the accessory sockets. Relay R1 (mini) is activated by the BCM which de-energizes it some minutes after the engine is stopped. R1 feeds two fuses F55 & F63 (this is for MY12 and others, check different MY's as they have varied). F55 powers the centre and rear outlets and F63 powers the drivers side front socket. R3 (micro) operates in the same manner and goes through F53 and powers the passenger side front socket.
These relays are intended as power saving devices in that they disconnect any load in these sockets as the vehicle shuts down reducing the chance of running down the main cranking battery.

I realize you are speaking of the D4 but I wondered if the D4 radio head has a diagnostics setup like my LR3.
Following the procedure below, I was able to stop the radio from shutting down due the low battery power function. Perhaps this procedure or a similar one exists for the D4 as well.
To access the diagnostics pages on theradio head, the procedure is as follows:
Ignitionmust be in position II or better yet, have the engine running and be in Park.
Turnradio off if it's already switched on.
Turnradio on by pushing the left knob and, within a few seconds of turning it on.
Pushand hold the right knob in for about 10 seconds (or until the display changes).
Youshould then see the Serial Number and some other stuff displayed.
Pushand hold the right knob in again foranother ten seconds or so and the display should change again.
Turnthe right knob to scroll through the pages of data, some of it unreadable code.
Eventually, you will reach the page that shows you the voltage and FBH temperature.
The 1VOLT number may show as about 135; the right volt number is the approximatevehicle voltage, 14.1 in my jpg as the engine is running.
Holdthe number 1 keypad button down and the 135 number will slowly decrease.
I heldit until the number reached 118.
The 118number seems to be good enough that the radio seems to not do the Low PowerShutdown thing.
This is a You Tube video showing how to access the radio head diagnostics.
